Child Safeguarding

Child safeguarding statement

We, in the Parish of Ss Peter & Paul, believe that the role of children and young people in the life of the Church is vital to the life of the parish as it continues the mission of Jesus. We value and encourage the participation of children and young people in parish liturgies and in pastoral activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional and social development.

We recognise the dignity and rights of all children and young people and are committed to ensuring their safety and wellbeing in a way that promotes their human dignity and integrity as children of God. In keeping with this, we in the Parish undertake to do all in our power to create safe environments for children and young people and to ensure their protection from neglect, physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

We recognise that all involved in working with children and young people have a special duty of care towards them and we are committed to having procedures in place through which this care is
put into effect so that the rights of children and young people to actively participate in the life of the Church are upheld.

It is, therefore, clear beyond all doubt that we hold and shall continue to hold the welfare of the child as paramount.
